Iya was born and brought up in Russia, and has studied and worked in Georgia and the United Kingdom. She holds an international law degree from Tbilisi State University, combined with almost four years work experience as an associate at Amirashvili, Gogishvili and Shengelia GP, a leading Georgian corporate law firm. Prior to joining INTERIGHTS, Iya recently graduated from the University of Essex with an LLM in International Human Rights Law. Her interests include understanding the conflict between Articles 9 and 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and the historical and current geopolitical state of the Caucasus. She is fluent in English, Georgian and Russian.
